About Us

Correcting wrongful convictions. Solving cold cases.
Founded in 2025 in response to an alarming but largely unknown policy failure, the Accurate Justice Project works to free the wrongfully convicted and solve violent crimes across the country by ensuring hits to police forensic databases are reviewed, disclosed, and acted upon—never ignored.

Our Mission

To ensure that no person remains in prison when forensic evidence proving their innocence is sitting on the desks of police and prosecutors. And to guarantee that victims of violent crimes will never go without closure when investigators have the evidence necessary to solve their cases.

Our Work

We work to make sure that forensic evidence doesn't fall through the cracks.

Driving policy change

We push for reforms at the state level to guarantee that CODIS hits are being properly reviewed, disclosed, and acted upon.

Assisting police and prosecutors

We consult with law enforcement agencies and prosecutors’ offices on how to use forensic database evidence to its full potential to solve cold cases and identify wrongful convictions.

Freeing the innocent

We work to get wrongfully convicted people out of prison when DNA database evidence proves their innocence.

Educating defense lawyers

We help defense lawyers and post-conviction counsel understand the potentially exculpatory value of CODIS hits and other forensic database evidence.
